Sensor cables made of Levapren®
An exciting new development
For various reasons, Levapren® is ideal for use in applications where particular attention has to be paid to the safety of people and material assets such as in electrical cables in museums, hospitals or ships.
Due to the fact that large quantities of fillers such as aluminum hydroxide can be added to Levapren®, this material can satisfy the strictest fire protection standards. No extensive addition of plasticizers is required even in the case of high filler content.
As well as lending itself to pigmentation, Levapren® also offers good oil resistance in this area of application. The UV, ozone and weathering resistance of the material make Levapren® cable sheathing ideal for outdoor use such as on ocean-going vessels.
With appropriate compounding, Levapren® is also a versatile material in electrical insulation applications. The key feature here being its high heat resistance. Levapren® vulcanizates meet standard EI 3 to VDE 0207 for insulation materials and fill the niche between products made of EPDM and those made from significantly more expensive silicone rubbers.
