HeliMax Powermoon®
Moon on a string
The HeliMax Powermoon® is the product for the moonstruck. A brightly lit ball of Levapren® is suspended above the nighttime scenery and bathes the surrounding area in pleasant daylight-like light, just like a full moon on a string.
Although the excellent idea of creating an artificial heavenly body seems simple at first, it only became possible a few years ago with the help of one of the best-performing synthetic rubbers from LANXESS and the filler gas helium which enables the Powermoon® to be suspended at a great height.
The real trick lies in using membranes made from the transparent LANXESS rubber Levapren®. Previously, rubberized materials lacked transparency. These new membranes can be processed with comparatively small quantities of the filler silica to produce high-performance membranes. Neither silica nor Levapren® absorb significant amounts of visible light. This results in translucent membranes which allow the white light to be seen in its true color.
Moreover, due to the fact that the balloon membranes can be kept particularly thin and light thanks to the high strength of the transparent Levapren® mixture, Levapren® can handle impressive loads. The Powermoon® can easily light up an area of 800 square meters (8600 sqare feet) from a height of 50 meters (170 feet).
The Powermoon® also has a long service life due to the weather and UV resistance of Levapren® even in the presence of the high-power lamps within the balloon.
Powermoon® is a registered trademark of Jürgen Nölle, Rheinberg.
